Iran’s First Vice President, Mohammad Reza Aref, said that his party had prepared itself for war. This was said after the United States (US) moved an aircraft carrier to the area.
“Today we must be prepared for a state of war. Our strategy is that we will never start a war, but if it is forced, we will defend ourselves,” said Reza Aref, as quoted by the official IRNA news agency, reported AFPFriday (30/1/2026).
He added that Iran was “ready” to negotiate with the US. But said “this time we want guarantees”, without providing further details.
Previously, Trump said that another US military “fleet” was currently sailing towards Iran. He conveyed this after the US military announced the arrival of the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln in the Middle East region.
However, Trump also hopes that Tehran can reach an agreement with Washington, amidst increasing tensions.
Then, the Chinese government also warned that a US-led military intervention against Iran could recklessly destabilize West Asia and push the region towards unpredictable consequences.
According to Iranian media, Press TVThursday (29/1/2026), speaking at the UN Security Council on Wednesday (28/1) local time, China’s Ambassador to the UN, Fu Cong, said that the situation surrounding Iran had attracted global attention as the threat of war intensified and regional tensions increased.
