One of the border crossings between Türkiye and Syria will reopen this week. This decision ends 12 years of border gate closures.
Reported AFPTuesday (12/5/2026), the reopening of the Akcakale crossing, located roughly in the middle of Turkey’s 900-kilometer (550-mile) border with Syria, was the latest step in Damascus’ efforts towards normalizing relations with its neighboring countries.
The crossing, located just across the border from Tal Abyad in northern Syria, was closed by Turkey in 2014 after the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) took control of the town following the defeat of Islamic State group militants.
Türkiye has long viewed the SDF as a group linked to the Kurdish militant PKK and a major threat along its southern border.
The crossing was partially reopened in 2019 for trade, funerals and the crossing of government officials following Türkiye’s military operation against ISIS jihadists and Kurdish fighters.
This decision means the crossing is now open to civilians.
“In view of the normalization of life in the region… entry and exit procedures using passports to and from the Syrian Arab Republic via the Akcakale Land Border Crossing will begin on Tuesday,” the Sanliurfa governor’s office said in a statement.
This move means 6 of the 12 crossings between Türkiye and Syria will be opened.
Türkiye has forged close ties with Syria’s new rulers, with President Ahmed al-Sharaa joining a diplomatic forum in Türkiye’s southern resort of Antalya in April.

PakarPBN
A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.
In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.
The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
