He assessed that public awareness in obeying traffic rules, coupled with the humanist presence of the Traffic Police through the Traffic Police Greets program, is an important factor in creating a safe, orderly and conducive vehicle flow situation in various regions of Indonesia.
“We see a positive trend in traffic culture, where the public, especially drivers, are becoming wiser, more patient and aware that safety while traveling is the main thing, so they follow all officers’ directions, especially when traffic engineering such as contraflow or diversion is implemented,” said Inspector General Pol. Agus, Sunday (17/5/2026).

Agus said that the momentum of this year’s long religious holiday is not only an opportunity for people to go on holiday and gather with family, but also shows the growing collective awareness of the importance of road safety.
“The culture of orderly traffic is starting to become part of people’s lives. We see firsthand how people are becoming more disciplined, respecting each other on the road, and obeying officers’ directions during the long weekend holidays and leave with the Ascension of Jesus Christ 2026,” he stressed.
Meanwhile, the Traffic Police Greeting program, which was intensified by Korlantas Polri ranks, was considered successful in creating emotional closeness between officers and the community. Through a persuasive, educational and humanist approach, Traffic Police personnel are present not only as law enforcers, but also friends of the public on the road.
He said that Korlantas Polri ranks throughout Indonesia are active in regulating vehicle flow, safety patrols, and direct education to road users at tourist points, places of worship, terminals, ports, public roads and toll roads.
“As a result, traffic conditions during the Ascension of Jesus Christ 2026 holiday were observed to be relatively smooth and the number of traffic accidents tended to be under control compared to the previous long holiday period,” he said.
Agus also emphasized that success in maintaining traffic security and order is not just the task of the National Police, but is the result of collaboration between all elements of the nation who care about mutual safety.
“Safety on the road is a shared responsibility. When society has a culture of discipline and officers are present with heart, a safe and comfortable atmosphere will be created. This is a spirit of togetherness that must continue to be maintained,” he said.
He also expressed his gratitude to all Traffic Police personnel in 34 regional police stations throughout Indonesia who remain ready to serve the community during the long holiday period, including volunteers, toll road officers, and the transportation community who support the smooth flow of homecoming and tourism.
