FAJAR.CO.ID, MAKASSAR – Two villages in South Sulawesi succeeded in holding the title of Human Rights Awareness Village. The two villages are each Bontomanai Village in Bulukumba Regency and Bontojai Village in Bantaeng Regency.
This determination was marked by the awarding of the award charter signed directly by the Indonesian Minister of Human Rights, Natalius Pigai.
The procession took place directly (face to face) and online with the activity center in Kendal Regency, Central Java.
Head of the South Sulawesi Ministry of Human Rights Regional Office, Daniel Rumsowek, who participated in the event through the Zoom application, gave his appreciation.
“This award is not only a symbol, but a form of recognition of the efforts of the village government in integrating human rights principles into governance and public services,” Daniel said, Saturday (8/23/2025).
Meanwhile, Minister of Human Rights Natalius Pigai stressed that the Village Human Rights Program is a clear evidence of the presence of the state in guaranteeing the basic rights of the community.
“The state must not be present only in the city, but also in the village. The principle of respect, protection, fulfillment, enforcement, and promotion of human rights must be felt by the community to the grassroots,” Natalius said.
He also revealed that Kemenham had formed a village of Redam (Reconciliation and Peace).
Natalius stressed that it was part of the form of commitment to create a community -based peace space.
“Kampung Redam is our endeavor to create a village that is not only free from discrimination, but also becomes a space of peace,” he added.
