FAJAR.CO.ID, JAKARTA-Almost even one year in office, the Prabowo-Gibran government has recorded several blunders in terms of public communication. This issue seems to be a mine field for the government.
Public communication experts and media strategies, from FISIPOL UGM, Prof. Nyarwi Ahmad assessed that the root of the communication crisis problem lies in the failure of officials in distinguishing between persuasive communication and which tends to lead to coercion.
Since ten months ago, instead of relieving concerns, several statements of state officials tend to be controversial detonators. These contradictory, ambiguous, and impressed statements show that there is a crisis in managing the political elite message, as well as questioning how far the language of language is prioritized in a circle of power.
“So coercion is different from persuasion,” Niryww was quoted as saying on Saturday (4/10/2025).
Natwi explained that the true persuasion was a dialogical process that was supported by data and rationality. Persuasion is done by expressing opinions with data, aiming to change attitudes and behavior, and invite the public to discuss values that are deemed necessary to get a new understanding that can be received together.
Contrary to this principle, Nyarwi assesses the actions of the political elite that are often controversial as an imposition of someone with an unus democratic.
He then gave an example of a minister who replied to public criticism with “running out, if possible, not to return”. He considered this behavior as a reflection of the communication of defensive officials.
