FAJAR.CO.ID – The 10th and 12th Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Jusuf Kalla (JK) requested that education in Indonesia no longer compared to the Finnish education system. Jusuf Kalla actually asked to refer to the education system in India and China.
The two countries namely China and India are considered more relevant to education in Indonesia. While comparisons with the education system in Finland are considered inappropriate, because the conditions of the two countries are very different.
“Don’t always compare countries like the best schools,” Jusuf Kalla (JK) was quoted on Monday (6/30).
One of the differences between Indonesia and Finland which is often called a country with the best education system in the world is its population. The total population of Finland is only around 5 million.
Large state income supports a good education system. Any policy taken by the government can be more easily applied.
Conversely, Indonesia has a far greater population with a relatively low level of income. This condition certainly makes challenges in the world of education different.
JK assesses that Indonesia is more relevant to learn from countries such as India and China which both have large populations, but they are able to give birth to superior generations. “Why are there so many CEOs or company leaders in America led by Indians? This must be learned,” he said.
Besides India, JK also mentioned the rapid progress of China in the last few decades should be a study material for the Indonesian government. In fact, almost equal to the United States (US) today.
