The President gave Amnesty to the Secretary General of PDIP Hasto, KPK: We learned, the legal process is still running

FAJAR.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Giving amnesty or forgiveness to the Secretary General of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle, Hasto Kristiyanto received a response from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). The KPK said that it would first study the orders of the DPR and the Head of State.

“We first learn the information. While the legal process is also still running, the process of submitting an appeal,” KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo told reporters on Thursday (7/31/2025).

Budi said, the KPK’s decision was currently still appealing on the sentence of 3.5 years in prison in the bribery case of the Inter -Time Changing Process (PAW) members of the House of Representatives who ensnared Hasto Kristiyanto. However, the decision could change if Hasto’s amnesty had been studied.

For information, the Indonesian Parliament has just held a consultation meeting with the government related to the consideration of the Republic of Indonesia President’s Letter regarding the granting of abolition to amnesty. The DPR gave approval for the letter submitted by the government.

Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Setyo Budiyanto stressed that the Head of State did not cross his limits in the policy. “That is the authority of the President in accordance with the 1945 Constitution,” Setyo said through a written statement, Thursday, July 31, 2025.

Setyo said, the President has the right to give forgiveness to anyone. Including Hasto, who was caught in a bribery case in the intermittent change process (PAW) of members of the DPR.

Previously, the Corruption Court at the Central Jakarta District Court stated that Hasto Kristiyanto was guilty and was proven to have bribed the PAW process of members of the DPR for Masaraku Masku. The Panel of Judges sentenced to a sentence of prison to Hasto Kristiyanto for 3.5 years.
