Sentenced to 4.5 Years Despite Not Taking a Dime, Ira Puspadewi Reaps Support from Netizens: Appeal Ma’am

FAJAR.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Public reactions to the 4 years and 6 months prison sentence of the former President Director of PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero), Ira Puspadewi, continue to circulate on social media.

In the video upload showing Ira asking for legal protection, the comments column was filled with various responses from netizens, the majority of whom voiced support and questioned the judge’s decision.

Many netizens think that the case involving Ira is full of irregularities.

“Those who are clearly not punished, check with the judge, investigator and prosecutor,” wrote one netizen who doubted the fairness of the legal process.

Another account highlights the alleged criminalization of BUMN professionals.

“There is always criminalization like this, who is behind it?” he said.

Some netizens even said that the panel of judges’ decision did not reflect the logic of corruption.

“Then which side of the corruption verdict is this? I was confused when I read the news,” commented another user.

There are also those who believe that business decisions should not be criminalized.

“Business decisions are not corruption. Why can’t judges tell the difference?” asked the netizen.

Not a few netizens are calling for further legal action. And, asked the Supreme Court to step in to review the case.

“Appeal, ma’am, don’t lose! Sue it all in the afterlife,” wrote one other comment

Previously it was known that Ira Puspadewi was sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in prison in the case of alleged corruption in the business cooperation (KSU) acquisition of PT Jembatan Nusantara (PT JN) for the 2019-2022 period.

The verdict was read out by the Jakarta Corruption Court Judges Panel in a trial held on Thursday (20/11/2025).
