FAJAR.CO.ID, JAKARTA — The Central Management of the Indonesian Tennis Association (PP PELTI) held training for elementary level tennis coaches at the PP PELTI Secretariat, Gelora Bung Karno Tennis Stadium (GBK), Jakarta, Monday (3/11/2025).
This activity lasts for three days until November 6 2025 and received direct certification from the International Tennis Federation (ITF).
Secretary General of PP PELTI, Andi Fajar Asti, said that this training was a form of the organization’s seriousness in improving the abilities of tennis coaches in Indonesia. According to him, currently there are still very few coaches who have an ITF certificate.
“This is a program that must continue to be encouraged at PP PELTI to continue to be improved so that our stock of ITF-certified trainers increases. Seeing that currently we have very few ITF-certified trainers,” he told reporters.
Andi Fajar hopes that, through this training, Indonesia will have more quality coaches who are able to produce outstanding athletes in the future.
“So it’s been a long time since we’ve had level one trainer training. Of course this condition is not ideal, that’s why we want to support the best trainers, that’s our hope,” he added.
Furthermore, he explained that this training is also part of the long-term preparations for the 2028 National Sports Week (PON). PP PELTI wants to ensure that the athletes are accompanied by an officially licensed ITF coach when facing this national event.
“In the short term, this is preparation for PON. We know that PON will take place in 2028, but the selection will start next year. So we want the coaches who accompany athletes in PON to be ITF certified coaches,” explained Andi Fajar.
