The trial is part of a series of corruption cases in the crude oil sector within PT Pertamina (Persero).
The panel of judges read out the verdict against the defendants in a trial which was held open to the public.
A number of families and supporters were present in the courtroom to watch the proceedings.
Before the trial began, the defendants were seen entering the court room escorted by officers.
Muhammad Kerry Adrianto Riza was seen accompanied by his wife who was present to provide moral support. The wife was seen sitting in the courtroom and holding Kerry’s hand as the panel of judges read out the verdict. His presence is a form of family support in the midst of the ongoing legal process.
The case involving Kerry and two other defendants is part of a case of alleged corruption in the management of crude oil and refined products for the 2018–2023 period.
The Public Prosecutor previously charged Kerry with a sentence of 18 years in prison in the major Pertamina crude oil corruption case which was estimated to have caused state losses of around IDR 285 trillion.
