Latest News: French Prosecutor’s Office Forms Special Team to Study Epstein Files, Collaborates with Police

The Paris prosecutor’s office announced the formation of a special team to investigate the Epstein Files scandal. The team, filled with lawyers, will analyze files relating to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Reported AFPSunday (15/2/2026), the team will work together with prosecutors from the national financial crimes unit and the police.

The Paris prosecutor’s office also said it would open an investigation into any alleged crimes related to Epstein.
It is known that several French public figures appeared in the US Department of Justice’s latest release of material from the Epstein dossier. However, the mention of the names of figures in the document does not mean there is a violation of the law.
Meanwhile, French authorities have said they will investigate a diplomat whose name is mentioned repeatedly in Jeffrey Epstein’s documents. The French diplomat’s name appeared in a number of emails to Epstein.

French Foreign Minister, Jean-Noel Barrot, as reported AFPWednesday (11/2), they asked for an investigation to be carried out against a diplomat named Fabrice Aidan. Barrot said he had forwarded the allegations against Aidan to French public prosecutors and launched an internal investigation.
“I am very surprised,” Barrot said in a statement on Wednesday (11/2).

He called Aidan the ‘principal secretary for foreign affairs who is on leave for personal reasons and holds several positions in the private sector’.
The names appearing in Epstein’s documents do not indicate any wrongdoing or violation of law. However, French media, after finding Aidan’s name in Epstein’s files, reported that he had email correspondence with Epstein from 2010 to 2017.
