FAJAR.CO.ID, MAKASSAR – In the midst of busy government agendas and a series of Ramadan Safaris, the Mayor of Makassar, Munafri Arifuddin closed his day by visiting directly his residents who were affected by the floods.
Tuesday (24/2/2026) at 22.30 WITA, Munafri arrived at the refugee camp at Perumnas Antang Block 10, Manggala District.
At the Jabal Nur Mosque, Block 10, which became a temporary safe point, he saw directly dozens of families fleeing after their houses were flooded due to the heavy rain that hit Makassar all day.
His presence is not just to inspect, but to provide motivation and directly ensure that residents are safe and their basic needs are met.
At the evacuation location, Appi checked the readiness of logistics, resting places, and the availability of food for breaking the fast and sahur.
On this occasion, Munafri said that he came to directly check the situation in the field so that handling could run optimally, especially in the middle of the holy month of Ramadan.
“There are 11 families who have been displaced. The water level in the house is around below knee level, especially in RT 2. We hope that services for our displaced brothers and sisters can be maximized, especially for toddlers and the elderly,” he said.
He emphasized that the Makassar City Government is fully committed to ensuring the safety and comfort of affected residents.
Basic needs such as food for breaking the fast and sahur, sleeping equipment, as well as special needs are the main priority.
Munafri also instructed the ranks of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Social Service, as well as all related sub-district and village head elements to remain alert at the location.
