Komeng Criticism of the Minister of Forestry Raja July: West Java Forest Missing, Kijang instead on the toll road

FAJAR.CO.ID, JAKARTA – The Hearing Meeting (RDP) between Committee II DPD RI and the Ministry of Forestry, Tuesday (9/16/2025), was suddenly full of laughter.

The cause is none other than the actions of Alfiansyah Komeng, a senator from West Java, who made criticism in his distinctive style: through humor.

Komeng began his statement by calling the Ministry of Forestry a ministry that “continued birthday”.

The reason, because of the abbreviation of the Ministry of Forestry. The words were immediately greeted by the laughter of the meeting participants.

“Alhamdulillah, I can meet with the ministry who protect the lungs of the world, even though it is not a health affair,” he said, again inviting laughter.

Behind the joke, Komeng slipped a deep concern related to the condition of the forest in West Java.

He alluded to the shrinking of forest areas, including customary forests in Ciamis.

“Sometimes Jakarta accusing floods from coming from West Java, even though in Jakarta the forest has been lost. Utan wood and long orangutan only have a name,” said Komeng.

Komeng said, deforestation in West Java has become a big dilemma.

On the one hand, new land is needed to meet food needs. But on the other hand, land clearing actually accelerates the loss of forest cover.

“West Java is heavy. The forest must be maintained, animals must be protected, the springs should not be lost. But the challenges are large,” he said.

Not stopping there, Komeng also mentioned wildlife who was increasingly losing habitat. With his hilarious style, he said “Kijang” is now more often found on the toll road.

But immediately corrected, “But Kijang Innova.” The words were again greeted by the laughter of the meeting participants.
