FAJAR.CO.ID, GOWA — The Children’s Futsal Event in commemoration of the 356th Anniversary of South Sulawesi Province took place lively at the Futsal Field at the Office of the Governor of South Sulawesi, Jalan Sungai Tangka, Makassar.
A number of teams from various elementary schools in South Sulawesi took part in the competition.
The Governor of South Sulawesi, Andi Sudirman Sulaiman, was present to open and watch the match.
The atmosphere became even more lively when the participants showed off their ability to process the round skin in order to bring home the championship trophy.
One thing that stole attention came from the futsal team of SD Islam Al-Azhar 34 Makassar.
This team is led by the young captain, M. Thoriq Akbar Sulaiman, son of Gowa Police Chief AKBP Muhammad Aldy Sulaiman.
Throughout the match, Thoriq appeared full of enthusiasm under the eyes of his father who was watching live from the sidelines.
Every now and then, MAS, as the Gowa Police Chief is known, encourages his son to perform at his best.
This support also bore sweet fruit. Even though they didn’t win the main title, Thoriq and his colleagues succeeded in bringing their school to the podium of hopeful champions.
For this achievement, SD Islam Al-Azhar 34 Makassar has the right to take home a prize of IDR 3 million.
After the match, MAS could not hide its pride in the children’s efforts in the tournament.
According to him, this kind of competition is not just about fighting for trophies, but a means of instilling positive values from an early age.
“So the main aim of Children’s Futsal is more to foster a spirit of sportsmanship, togetherness and discipline among children,” said MAS, Sunday (19/10/2025).
