FAJAR.CO.ID, MAKASSAR — The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (Kemenhaj) continues to tighten competency standards for Hajj and Umrah companions.
One thing that is of concern is the mandatory certification for congregational mentors so that the mentoring process runs professionally and in accordance with regulations.
Head of the South Sulawesi Hajj and Umrah Development and Control Division, Ashafif, emphasized that guide certification is not just a formality, but a control instrument that is continuously monitored by the government.
This was revealed by Ashafif after attending the closing of the Makassar 2025 Hajj and Umrah Guide Certification activities for Batch I (Mandiri) at the Sultan Alauddin Hotel and Convention, Wednesday (3/12/2025) evening.
“The government, through the Ministry of Haj, apart from carrying out this certification process, also continues to monitor supervisors who have received certificates to carry out their duties well,” said Ashafif to the media crew.
Ashafif said that the certificate has a certain validity period and will be evaluated periodically.
“So the validity period of the certificate will be determined later, stated in government policy. Every certain period it is always evaluated,” he said.
He added that every guide is obliged to update information regarding Hajj policies and the latest conditions in Saudi Arabia.
“This means that all tutors who have a certificate are obliged to also update information, especially about government policies regarding Hajj. Including the current situation in Saudi Arabia, regarding the condition of Hajj,” he said.
Apart from that, mentors are also required to understand contemporary jurisprudence to ensure convenience for the congregation.
