FAJAR.CO.ID, TOLITOLI – In many coastal areas of Indonesia, access to education is still difficult to reach. Children have to travel long distances, even across the sea, just to read books or take part in teaching and learning activities at school. Commitment and collaboration from various parties is really needed to realize the dream of children in coastal areas for a decent education.
BRI Peduli, as the umbrella for the Social and Environmental Responsibility Program (TJSL) from BRI, took the initiative to encourage educational progress in Indonesia’s coastal and outermost regions through the State Children’s Literacy Program. One concrete form is the distribution of Literacy Boats to children in the coastal area of Tolitoli Regency, Central Sulawesi Province.
In this program, BRI Peduli collaborates with the Lopie Bahari Nusantara Tolitoli Foundation, which specifically spreads literacy and education to the outermost islands in coastal areas or small islands in Tolitoli.
Apart from the Literacy Boat, BRI Peduli also distributed other supporting facilities in the form of reading books, stationery and projectors which are expected to support literacy activities carried out by the Lopie Bahari Nusantara Tolitoli Foundation.
BRI Corporate Secretary Dhanny revealed that the distribution of the BRI Cares for Literacy Program for National Children in Tolitoli is a concrete form of BRI’s support for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, especially point number 4, namely ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education, as well as increasing lifelong learning opportunities for all.
