BPS Data: Indonesia’s incense exports are Rp.849 billion

FAJAR.CO.ID, JAKARTA-Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka stole the attention after discussing mothers who use the perfume of Gucci and Louis Vuitton (LV).

This was conveyed by Gibran when speaking in front of participants in the 68th National Leadership and Strengthening Education (P4N) Lemhanas, at the Vice President’s Palace, on July 14, 2025.

Gibran claimed to downstream incense and said that luxury brand perfume uses it as a perfume material.

He reminded that Indonesia sells raw incense, which in the end is used by other countries to make products, including perfume.

“I once talked about the downstreaming problem of incense many laughed. The incense was as valuable as nickel,” Gibran was quoted as saying from Youtube Setwapres.

“Mothers who use LV, Gucci, and others perfume from incense. We continue to sell raw,” he added.

Related to the incense that is used as a material for making perfume, it is possible that it refers to Frankincense or benzoin.

There are other interesting facts, based on BPS reports, the volume of incense exports in 2024 reached 43,069 tons which means it dropped slightly compared to the volume of 45,505 tons where the export value rose to Rp849 billion which was previously Rp798 billion in 2024.

For countries that are subscribed to incense in Indonesia, there are China, Bangladesh, Egypt, India, to Egypt based on the data of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS).

These countries choose the sap or resin produced used for cosmetics, food, to medicine.
