The Narcotics Research Directorate of Polda Metro Jaya succeeded in uncovering the practice of a clandestine lab or illegal laboratory for making ecstasy and “happy water” narcotics operating in an apartment in the Cipinang area, East Jakarta.
This disclosure was carried out by Unit 5 Sub-Directorate 3 of the Narcotics Directorate led by Head of Sub-Directorate 3 AKBP Ade Candra on Monday (30/3) at around 19.00 WIB. During this operation, officers arrested two suspects with the initials K (32) and S (38) in front of a minimarket in Tower G of the Basura Apartment, Cipinang.
From the hands of the two suspects, the police found evidence in the form of 10 ecstasy pills. Next, officers carried out an expansion into the room unit occupied by the suspect on the 22nd floor of the Dahlia Tower, which was strongly suspected to be used as a production and storage location for narcotics.
At the second location, the police found a large amount of evidence, including ready-to-print ecstasy raw materials weighing 16,695 kilograms which are estimated to produce more than 33 thousand ecstasy pills, 643 ecstasy pills ready to be distributed, and 34 packs of ‘happy water’.
Apart from that, various chemicals and production equipment were also seized, such as chemical powders, ecstasy presses, digital scales, blenders, plastic presses, and a set of laboratory equipment which strengthened the suspicion of home-scale or clandestine lab narcotics production activities.
Director of Narcotics Research at Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Ahmad David, said that the Clandestine Lab or home industry for making Ecstasy and Happy Water drugs has been going on for approximately two months. They have produced approximately 2,000 pills of Ecstasy from the Chanel and Mercy brands as well as 50 pax of Happy water.
From the location, the police revealed that 16.6 kilograms of raw materials were ready to be printed which would produce 33,000 ecstasy pills. The police also confiscated various precursors and tools for making these illicit goods.
“Here you can see there is a printing device, then this is ecstasy which is ready to be distributed, totaling 643 ecstasy pills,” said Commissioner Ahmad David to journalists.
“Polda Metro Jaya arrested two suspected perpetrators who are currently being investigated intensively at Polda Metro Jaya,” he continued.
