FAJAR.CO.ID, MAKASSAR – The Governor of South Sulawesi, Andi Sudirman Sulaiman, instructed the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) and the South Sulawesi Provincial Social Service to immediately drop directly to the four areas affected by floods in Jeneponto, Bantaeng, Bulukumba, and Sinjai Regencies.
This step was taken as a form of rapid response to the flood disaster that hit a number of these regions in the last few days.
Head of South Sulawesi BPBD, Amson Padolo said that the BPBD team had been deployed to all affected areas to evacuate residents and hand over logistics assistance.
“The team has come down to all areas affected by floods. In addition to channeling logistics, we have also coordinated to establish a public kitchen at several points to meet the food needs of affected residents,” Amson explained, Saturday (6/7/2025).
He added, BPBD had also established coordination with the Public Works Department of Public Works to help clean up the avalanche material that was blocking road access.
In addition, the BPBD has coordinated with the Pompengan hall related to the handling of a broken embankment and resulted in river overflowing.
“Rehabilitation and reconstruction of the embankment have also begun to discuss for long -term plans,” Amson said.
Meanwhile, Head of South Sulawesi Social Service, Abd Malik Faisal, said that logistics assistance had been prepared in advance through the buffer stock system available in each district.
“Disaster logistics assistance is indeed distributed regularly before the disaster occurs, as an anticipatory step. Logistics warehouses in each district have been prepared, and will be topped up if the stock is running low based on the results of the assessment,” he explained.
