FAJAR.CO.ID, JAKARTA — The Indonesia-Africa CEO Forum which was held in Johannesburg, South Africa, Friday afternoon local time suddenly burst into applause welcoming the speech of Indonesian Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka in English.
The South African businessmen who attended the CEO Forum immediately greeted with applause, regarding the mutual visa exemption which made cooperation between the two countries easier.
Gibran Rakabuming Raka announced a joint visa-free policy for South African citizens entering Indonesia, and vice versa.
“President Ramaphosa’s visit a few weeks ago to Indonesia reflects the close cooperation between the two countries. Both Presidents agreed to visa-free entry, so I think this is good news for all of you, no more visas,” said Vice President Gibran.
Gibran emphasized that Indonesia is committed to expanding foreign investment in South Africa, especially in the fields of agriculture and energy.
According to the Vice President, South Africa is a strategic partner and gateway for Indonesia to penetrate the African market. At the same time, Indonesia also offers industrial capacity, human resources, manufacturing networks, technology and access to the ASEAN market.
At the event, Gibran also appreciated the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) regarding strategic industries.
As a partner in the future, Gibran said that Indonesia will always be ready to help Africa, which is the determinant of the future.
“We are open to helping all of you because Africa is a continent that will determine the future. Africa is developing very rapidly and is full of potential. Africa is the future and Indonesia wants to build that future together with Africa,” he said. (Pram/dawn)
