Megawati was not present at the MPR Annual Session to the Republic of Indonesia Anniversary at the State Palace, did Jokowi really avoid?

FAJAR.CO.ID, JAKARTA – The absence of PDIP Chairman, Megawati Soekarnoputri, at the annual session of the MPR of the Indonesian House of Representatives Nusantara Building, Jakarta, on Friday (08/15/2025) yesterday stole the public’s attention.

Not a few issues circulating said that Megawati was present because she did not want to meet with former President Jokowi.

This issue was strengthened at the moment of the 80th Indonesian Independence Day celebration at the State Palace. Megawati was not present again with only represented by the Speaker of the Indonesian Parliament, Puan Maharani.

Responding to the developing issue, PDIP politician, Ferdinand Hutahaean, said that Megawati’s absence was a form of political attitude.

“The absence of Ms. Megawati in the two state events of the MPR General Session and also the Republic of Indonesia Anniversary at the Palace I think is certainly a political attitude that is not without reason,” Ferdinand told Fajar.co.id, Sunday (8/17/2025).

Ferdinand said, Megawati could have chosen not to attend not just not wanting to meet with Jokowi.

“I am not just a matter of not wanting to meet with Jokowi or not, the matter of Jokowi might not be the main reason,” he said.

“But we hear from PDIP saying that Ms. Megawati is not healthy,” he added.

Ferdinand revealed that the possibility of the number one person in PDIP had his own reasons.

“If I see this, this is a sound of noise that is done by Ms. Megawati about the situation and condition of our nation today,” he added.

Ferdinand continued, Megawati’s attitude could be seen from his latest speech. Likewise with Puan Maharani’s speech at the MPR session yesterday.
