Latest News: Chairman of the MPR: RI Joins BoP Diplomatic Courage, Important for Peace in Gaza

Chairman of the Indonesian MPR Ahmad Muzani assessed Indonesia’s participation in the Board of Peace (BoP) as a form of diplomatic courage. Muzani said, Indonesia’s joining the BoP is an important thing for peace in Gaza.
“I think our participation in the BoP is one of the important things for peace in Palestine, including in Gaza. The people of Gaza are now grateful that there is peace so they can enjoy the month of Ramadan,” said Muzani at the Asshiddiqiyah Islamic Boarding School, West Jakarta, Sunday (22/2/2026) evening.

Muzani assesses that the plan to rebuild Gaza is a concrete effort to liberate Palestine from Israel. This breakthrough, he said, also brought Indonesia a good name in international eyes.
“Of course this is an extraordinary diplomatic effort. We are grateful that President Prabowo has courage in diplomacy under his government, this step can be something to be proud of,” he said.
Furthermore, Muzani also responded to a number of agreements between Indonesia and the United States that had just been signed. He responded positively because there were a number of things that would benefit Indonesia.
“If we look at what President Prabowo produced on his trip to Washington, it was very good, encouraging because first, for example, there will be investment plans from America for various other industrial fields with quite large values,” he said.
Previously, President Prabowo Subianto reiterated his optimism regarding the development of humanitarian and peace efforts in Gaza after the first meeting of the BoP or Security Council. He said that determination was needed so that peace could occur in Palestine.
“Yes, thank God, it went well, smoothly. We will see the progress that has been achieved,” said Prabowo in a press statement with media crew in Washington DC, Thursday (19/2) local time.
Prabowo assessed that a number of progress had been achieved, especially in the distribution of humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza. He also emphasized that the flow of food aid and basic necessities for the people of Gaza is currently at a high level compared to the last few years.
“While I think the flow of food aid, I think the needs of the people of Gaza are the highest for several years. So there is enough food, other needs are flowing rapidly,” he added.

However, Prabowo reminded that various challenges still lie ahead. According to him, efforts to achieve peace require strong determination and vigilance against various obstacles.
Not only that, he also emphasized Indonesia’s commitment together with other Muslim countries to encourage the achievement of sustainable peace for the Palestinian people. “But yes, we must be determined to achieve success for the sake of the Palestinian people. We are of course committed, earlier several Muslim countries all emphasized our commitment to truly achieving lasting peace,” he continued.
President Prabowo’s commitment also emphasizes the consistency of Indonesia’s foreign policy which is free and active and pro-humanity, as well as placing Indonesia as a strategic partner in efforts to create just and sustainable peace in the Middle East.
